The in-house cow barn or ‘Gaushala’ has been developed for the breeding of indigenous livestock such as the Malenadu Gidda. Housing cows, bulls, and calves of this breed that feed on the rich pastureland around the resort, the Gaushala’s sunny exterior is brightly decorated with Warli paintings and photographs of several native cow breeds. While the rich organic milk from the Gaushala finds its way to the kitchens of The Tamara Coorg, the manure is used to nourish the coffee plantation. The Gaushala goes a long way in aiding eco-sustainable practices that form the bedrock of The Tamara Coorg. Guests are treated to a look at the bovine beauties that are lovingly nurtured here, during the Plantation Trails tour.
